Weekly Reminders

October 19-23, 2026

Good Afternoon, Pirate Families,

This week, CCS will be taking part in Bullying Prevention Week. Ms. Orantes, our school counselor, will be conducting lessons with our students related on how to ensure people are treating each other right and to spread kindness. Next week, RBMS will continue these efforts by holding a Spirit Week and sharing how being good to one another is what makes our area a great community to take pride in.

Also next week, we will have a dance before our final home football game vs. Arndt (Wednesday, October 28). For $10.00 students will get admission into both the dance and the football game, along with a drink and pizza. Candy will be sold separately. Students must be in attendance at school in order to participate. Students may not check out and come back to the dance.

This year, Catawba County Schools has introduced the Spark Awards to recognize school system employees who are making a positive impact. Please consider nominating an RBMS staff member for a Spark Award today.

Please remember that October 30, the RBMS Sunshine Club and RBMS PTO will provide the Pirate staff with its annual Halloweenie Luncheon. If anyone would care to contribute to this event, please go to this SignUpGenius and select a slot.

Some of our students have recently had some amazing opportunities to learn about STEM and potential careers through our partnership with GEAR-UP. To help our students continue to have such experiences, parents/guardians are asked to please complete this College and Career Readiness Survey.

Here are some reminders for the coming days:
  • Monday, October 19--Conference Cross Country Championship HOME (4:15, boys first)
  • Tuesday, October 20--Soccer / Volleyball HOME vs. Northview (4pm)
  • Wednesday, October 21--Football AWAY vs. Newton-Conover (6:00, at Newton-Conover Hill High).
  • Thursday, October 22--First quarter Team Awards and Student Recognitions. Soccer / Volleyball AWAY vs. Arndt (4:00)
  • Friday, October 23--Earn-It-Challenge Social for students who have met the criteria based on grades, attendance, and behaviors.

As you can see, there will be some celebrating going on this week. That's because our kids are putting in the work and deserve the recognition. Even if they are not reaching certain goals, there is a huge opportunity for students to improve upon themselves and reach award status for the second quarter. Our mission at RBMS is to hold our students to high standards so they can grow academically and so they can SAIL into their futures and be successful. Thank you, parents and guardians, for working with us as we prepare our kids for high school, graduation, and beyond.

Take care, and have a great week!

Go, Pirates!
