Good Afternoon, Pirate Families,
Thank you for all of your support these first weeks of school. We are off to a great start, and we're looking to have an amazing year.
Speaking of amazing years, last year was a hallmark year for River Bend Middle School. Thanks to the efforts of our staff, students, and their families, River Bend Middle has lost its "low-performing school" designation. In fact, our school has moved from a D school with a Report Card Score of 51 to a grade of C with a score of 61. A ten point jump like that is extraordinarily impressive, but it is just the start of great things yet to come at River Bend Middle School.
We also reached Exceeded Expected Growth status last year. RBMS had more students show growth than any middle school in Catawba County, and that includes the middle schools in the other districts. We will continue to hold high expectations for our students so we can maintain this trajectory of success and to ensure that our students have the most options possible after they graduate high school. Thank you for all you are doing and will do to invest in RBMS this year and beyond.

Monday, September 7--No school. Labor Day Holiday.

Tuesday, September 8--Soccer / Volleyball AWAY vs. Maiden (4pm start)

Wednesday, September 9--School picture day. Football AWAY vs. Mill Creek (6:45 at Bandys High).

Thursday, September 10--Soccer / Volleyball AWAY vs. Newton-Conover (4pm start)

Monday, September 14--RBMS Parent Information Night 6-7pm. Come out to learn about Infinite Campus, IXL, GEAR-UP, Tutor.com, and other ways to help your student succeed this school year.
Next week, we will have our first home games. Students may stay after school for games. They must stay in the cafeteria for study hall until 3:30. Admission is $5.00, and students must wear their school-issued name tags at athletic events.
