Good Afternoon, Pirate Families,
Welcome to Attendance Awareness Month! Each September, schools partner with the Attendance Works group to ensure that families know the value of good attendance in schools. Academic success and growth--which leads to personal success and growth--depends upon strong attendance. Showing up to school each day and putting forth effort will pay huge, huge dividends in the lives of our students. Thank you for all of your support in getting our kids to school ready to go.
Last week was the best start to a school year anyone could ask for. Our students and teachers jumped right in with minimal disruptions thanks to everyone working together. If you did not get a chance to sign off on going over the
Student Handbook, please do that as soon as you can this week and send in the signature page. We want everyone to be on the same page so we can keep a good momentum at RBMS for continued growth and improvement.
We also sent home Free and Reduced Lunch paperwork. Please fill that out and send it back to school because that data helps the school with keeping our lunch program funded. Here is the
online registration if you'd rather fill it out that way.
Here are some reminders for the coming days:
-
Monday, August 31--Fall sports parent meeting (volleyball, cheer, soccer, and cross country) 5:15 in the cafeteria.
-
Monday, September 7--No school. Labor Day Holiday.
-
Monday, September 14--RBMS Parent Information Night 6-7pm. Come out to learn about Infinite Campus, IXL, GEAR-UP, Tutor.com, and other ways to help your student succeed this school year.
Arrival and dismissal went very well last week. One thing we want to make sure people know is that drivers may double-up in the carline to help keep traffic out of the main road. Just a reminder about drop-off/pick-up procedures: The doors open for car riders at 7:10 and classes start at 7:30. Everyone needs to be in the building no later than 7:25. Bus riders will be dismissed at 2:25 and car riders at 2:27. For both drop off and pick-up, please pull all the way up to the mailbox along side the sidewalk to help keep cars off the road. Staff members will be on site to guide you.
Again, thank you for all you are doing to make middle school a great experience for your child. The more we work together and keep our focus on progress, the greater things River Bend Middle School and its students will achieve.
Take care, and have a great week!
Go, Pirates!
